An average of six people die from alcohol poisoning every day in the United States.

The problem goes beyond young college kids who don’t know their limits or are forced to binge drink as part of a hazing ritual. In fact, three out of four alcohol poisoning deaths happen in adults ages 35 to 64, most of them men.

Another surprising trend: Most alcohol poisoning deaths occur in the western states and Alaska. Alabama has the lowest rate of deaths from drinking.
