One likely reason: People who don’t get enough sleep tend to make a lot of the stress hormone cortisol, according to Harvard researchers. Cortisol can boost appetite and lead to overeating. Well-rested people also have more energy to exercise, which certainly doesn’t hurt the waistline, either.
