Cover up against sun and wind

The sun may be less intense in the winter, but you still need sunscreen. If you’re in snow country, the reflection from all that white stuff can even give you a sunburn. Hudacek recommends using a broad spectrum sunscreen of at least 30 SPF (don't forget to put some on your ears). Wear a hat and cover your exposed skin with non-wool scarves and other clothing to further block the sun’s skin-damaging rays. Not only can this help keep you warm; bundling up in cold weather also helps prevent wind chapping. Hudacek cautions that if you wrap yourself up in scarves, make sure they are loose so they won’t irritate your skin.
