Winter Skin Irritation #5: Chemical allergies

Your new perfume could be causing contact dermatitis, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. The number one cause of allergic skin reactions is fragrance, Bank adds. Skin may be red, irritated and feel bumpy where it came into contact with the product.

The fix: Switch to fragrance-free products, Bank recommends — including body lotion, deodorant, makeup, soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener and even toilet paper.
