Winter Skin Irritatant #6: Aggravation from itchy sweaters

Have you been scratching your neck since you slipped on that new sweater? You may sensitive to lanolin, which is in wool and in some synthetic fibers, Bank says. If you're allergic to lanolin, your skin also may be red.

The fix: If the problem is mild, switching to cotton clothing could solve the problem. If wool is making skin that’s already dry and itchy worse, Banks advises using a moisturizer or over-the-counter one-percent hydrocortisone cream to ease the itchiness.
