Scorpions and spiders

Spiders, tarantulas, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes and many other insects and crustaceans belong to the arthropod phylum of animals. Internationally, scorpion stings kill 3,250 people a year, mostly in poor countries with limited access to anti-venom. In the United States, between 1999 and 2013, the CDC reported venomous spiders killed 105 people, scorpions killed seven and centipedes or millipedes killed five. Other non-venomous arthropods killed 137 people.
