Put away the pods

Laundry and dishwasher detergent pods are handy and easy to use. But they also look fun, which means that kids can mistake them for toys or candy. When a child squeezes or bites a pod, it can burst, sending detergent into the eyes, nose or mouth. Since the pods are concentrated detergent, the reactions following exposure are typically more serious than when a child is exposed to non-concentrated laundry detergent. Still, any detergent is potentially unsafe around children, so make sure to keep it out of reach.
