Breast milk

If you don’t make enough of your own milk, buying breast milk online might seem like a good idea, but it’s actually extremely dangerous, according to the FDA. Breast milk bought on the Internet can put babies who drink it at risk for HIV, hepatitis B or C, syphilis and other infectious diseases. There’s also a chance the milk could contain prescription drugs or other contaminants, the FDA warns. And improper collection, storage or shipping (if milk isn’t kept cold or frozen, for example) pose safety risks, too.

In one study published in Pediatrics in 2015, researchers found evidence that cow’s milk was added to 10 of 102 samples tested.
